The Green Festival Launch Party in New York City was a huge hit with more than one hundred attendees, including exhibitors, small business owners, media and green consumers from across the city. The event took place at Environment Furniture Showroom in Manhattan’s East Village, where guests enjoyed delicious Vegan Sushi from Green Festival Exhibitor, Beyond Sushi and signature Green Festival cocktails created by mixologist/chef Kate Halpern with the world’s First Açaí Spirit, Veev, and TumericAlive. The music playlist was provided by the DJs of Circa 95, who will be performing in the Green Festival beer garden.

Rona Berg, the editor of Organic Spa Magazine, welcomed everyone with a few words about the state of green living in New York City. She proudly reminded the crowd that New York City is one of the greenest cities in the country due to New Yorkers’ active commitment to public transportation, the regular use of tap water, the high recycling rate and, regrettably for some, the low energy costs of the city’s smaller apartments. Dr. Corinna Basler, President of Green Festivals, was on hand as well for the evening event and spoke about the exciting new developments at Green Festival and expanding the Festival’s outreach in New York City. Dr. Basler highlighted the importance of supporting not only green brands and companies, but also helping local organizations to integrate green into their communities. She announced the new Green Festival Community Award and Green Festival Brand Award, which opened for public voting at the party. Many guests began voting for their favorite green brand immediately and were entered for a chance to win the new Super Green Shopper Prize.
The evening also include a fantastic array of New York exhibitors who were showcasing their products and talking with attendees, including Anna’s Potions and Lotions, Alapure Cosmetics, Bean Field’s Snacks, Caru Skin Care, Eco-Friendly Printer, Emmy’s Organics, Fabled Frog, Mufetta Natural, Raw Revolution, Satva Remedies, Soap Boy Products, Soom Foods, Terra Nut, Violets are Blue and Soap Box Soaps. Green Festival speakers Sass Brown, of Eco Fashion Talk, East Village foodie and mixologist Kate Halpern, Marissa Feinberg, the founder of Green Spaces, Carolina Russ of OM Factory, Tanya Mendez of Maker’s Row, Jacquie Berger of JustFood.com and representatives from Food Bank NY, Green Eileen and Green America were also present and mingling with guests. The Environment Furniture Showroom was an ideal venue for the Green Festival New York launch party and guests left with gift bags and a taste of what was to come at Pier 94, April 26-27.
