This year SCRAP D.C. and Green Festivals will be teaming up to teach children about the natural world and the role sustainability and green living will play in building a better future by leading interactive workshops in the Green Kids Zone. The Green Kids Zone will engage your family in sustainable living, with art projects hosted by SCRAP D.C. that you can take home. See the Program Schedule online to plan your Kids Zone activities.
SCRAP D.C. is a project of SCRAP, a nonprofit which aims to inspire reuse of everyday items and other environmentally sustainable behaviors by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community. In the three years since their founding SCRAP D.C. has diverted over 5 tons of materials from waste streams while inspiring hundreds of elementary and middle school students to use their imaginations and think creatively.
“I don’t know what universes might be revealed by the kids who visit SCRAP D.C., but I do look forward to providing the materials and studio space that will spark their creations,” says by Karen, Co Founder and Artistic Director. SCRAP D.C. creates the space for children to explore their imagination and achieve creative goals while learning about waste and reuse, and kids embrace the hands on experience of an arts and crafts project.
