Green Festival Speakers
Zakiya Harris is a California native, who has been working as a Change Strategist for over 12 years. She is co-founder Grind for the Green, an organization committed to moving young people of color from the margins to the epicenter of the environmental movement and has served as the Regional Director of the San Francisco Green Festival. In 2011 she was named “One to Watch” by Grist.org. and includes in her accomplishments the Future Leaders Award from the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights as well as Fellowships from Green For All and the Bold Food Fellowship from the US Department of State. She is an accomplished dancer, vocalist, actor and member Ase Dance Theater Collective, and is currently releasing her first solo music project The Shapeshifter while serving on the founding team of Hub Oakland (opening Summer 2013). Her highest honor in life is being a mother to her 6-year old daughter.
