Panayoti Kelaidis has been at Denver Botanic Gardens since 1980; he is currently serving as the Senior Curator and Director of Outreach. He is a member of the editorial board of American Horticulturist as well as numerous plant societies. Panayoti has traveled to Mexico, South Africa, Alaska, Chile, Argentina, Pakistan, Spain, and throughout the Western United States on plant expeditions. He has garnered numerous awards and honors, including the 2009 American Horticulture Society's prestigious Liberty Hyde Bailey Award for lifetime contributions to horticulture, the Colorado Nursery and Greenhouse Growers Hall of Fame in 2005, the 2004 Boulder History Museum 60 Year Living History award, and the 2002 National Garden Clubs Medal of Honor. Panayoti is an acclaimed national and international speaker, having presented papers across the U.S. and around the world, including South Africa, England, Scotland, Sweden, the Netherlands and Canada. He has helped discover or name 3 new species of plants in his lifetime.
