Christie Keith has over 17 years of experience in global social justice movements, and is currently the International Co-Coordinator of GAIA, a global network of more than 600 grassroots organizations and individuals working together for zero waste and environmental justice in 92 countries. She formerly worked as a popular educator, program coordinator and strategic planner in Guatemala. While there, she supported refugees from the Guatemalan civil war, as well as leaders of the labor movement, women’s movementand Mayan campesino movement. In the U.S., she has served as the Interim Director for NISGUA (a Guatemala human rights and social justice organization) and the U’wa Defense Project, and has also carried out development work for the Hesperian Foundation and Health Care Without Harm. She is based in GAIA's Berkeley, CA office.
