Rasheeda Hawk PhD.

Dr. Rasheeda Hawk, a native of South Los Angeles, acquired a doctorate degree in Biophysics and Physiology from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Her current research at the Veterbi School of Engineering involves environmental toxins and their subsequent epigenetic effects leading to diseases such as ovarian cancer and PTSD.


Rasheeda has studied how environmental factors can have an adverse affect in the human body leading to disease that is inheritable for many generations. Because of these findings, she has been involved with many sustainability projects and organizations such as Seeds of Carver, an organization whose aim is to convert vaacant spaces into urban farm land, SoLA, whose goal is to create an organic food co-op in South Los Angeles, and ShadeTree, whose work is aimed towards healing and human development. Rasheeda is also an active member of The Global Health Council that is dedicated to saving lives and improving the quality of life throughout the world.
