Green Festival Speakers
After the deaths of her father and best girlfriend, Barrett grew restless and dissatisfied with her corporate career. She began volunteering for hospice, and from there started working at the MakeAWish Foundation. Barrett's intuitive journey then deepened when she learned about home funeralsand decided to attend mortuary school and obtain a license as a funeral director. After serving as the first funeral director of Peoples Memorial Funeral Cooperative, Barrett opened her own home funeral business, A Sacred Moment. Today, with offices in Seattle and Everett, A Sacred Moment provides cremations, conventional burials, and specializes in home funerals, green burials, and life celebrations. Barrett is now the first president of the National Home Funeral Alliance and has taught workshops and classes for local and national hospice organizations and Bastyr University.
