This was the perfect location to kick off Green Festival as it showcases the best in sustainable living with a kitchen and living room surrounding an indoor tree and the latest in green building technology. Guests included members of the green community, media, exhibitors, small business owners, and environmental advocates, all helping to make LA a more green and sustainable city. Signature cocktails created by Green Queen Eco Bartender Michelle with the world’s first açaí spirit, Vita Frute by Veev, were served alongside delicious vegan/vegetarian food by Green Festival exhibitor Raw Foodz.
Steve Glenn, the co-host of the evening, welcomed the Los Angeles crowd and delivered opening remarks. Steve proudly described the many ways in which LA continues to grow into one of America’s most sustainable cities and invited guests to tour the house. Dr. Corinna Basler, President of Green Festivals, Inc. and Los Angeles Regional Director Pascale Coupal-Sikes were also present as co-hosts of the event. Dr. Basler spoke about the momentum from the spring shows in Washington, D.C. and New York City - with more than 200 exhibitors, sponsors and partners expected in Los Angeles and the exciting new features of the upcoming festival.
New this year is the additional Friday B2B day with a full day of events targeted to the business community. The highlight of Friday will be mentoring sessions provided by Pay It Forward Labs with advice on all levels of starting, growing and selling your green business. Community organizations will also be featured at this year’s festival. Attendees will be able to save a life by adopting homeless pets onsite through a partnership with the Best Friends Animal Society of Los Angeles, and also be included in the voting process for the Green Festival Community Award and Green Festival Brand Award, two new awards for the Green Festival event in Los Angeles. Many guests began voting for their favorite green brand during the party and were entered for a chance to win the Super Green Shopper Prize. In particular, Dr. Basler highlighted the importance of involving everyone in making the planet a better place and this involves not only supporting only green brands and companies, but also engaging local organizations in the community and everyday people and consumers.
A number of exhibitors were at the launch party to provide guests with a taste of what they would be offering at the Green Festival in September. Local vendors provided samples of their products and discussed their brands with media, tastemakers and green consumers throughout the evening. Exhibitors included Blue Gold for Life, Bright Green Events, Coco Jack, EarthKeeper Organics, Follow Your Heart, GoMacro, HealthVerve, Juice Beauty, RawFoodz and Repurpose. Attendees enjoyed raffle prizes, fun photo opportunities with Superhero Eco Joe on a “green” carpet and were presented with wonderful gift bags with a sampling of products from Green Festival LA exhibitors. At the end of the evening in true Green Festival fashion, Bright Green Events was responsible for zero-wasting the launch party. Santa Monica LivingHome was a perfect atmosphere for LA launch party and now we look forward to seeing everyone at the Los Angeles Convention Center on September 12th, 13th and 14th.
