Green Festival Announces the New York Brand Award Winner and Runners-up

The votes are in and here are the winners of the first-ever Green Festival NYC Brand Award.

First Place: VegVoyages

brand-vegvoyages

First place goes to VegVoyages Vegan and vegetarian adventure tours in Asia! We love your approach to eco-tourism adding cultural immersion, local interaction and lots of local vegan foods and fun to the mix. Looking forward to travelling with you!

Created by vegetarians and vegans for vegetarian and vegan travelers, VegVoyages began ten years ago after its founders “burned out” on the film business and decided to finally do something that they could believe in. Coming from three different countries, they shared a mutual passion for South Asian and Southeast Asian cultures, animal rights and environmental issues, travel and of course, great vegetarian and vegan food. With years of experience living, working and organizing projects within Asia, they started an idea that had been close to their hearts – small group “off-the-beaten-track” adventures that focus on cultural immersion, local interaction and of course eating plenty of local vegan cuisine along the way where travelers are taken as far from their daily life as possible and completely immersed into the culture, customs, traditions and daily life of another. The objective: to help encourage a better understanding and respect for each other’s cultures and way of life, and to share ideas between cultures on common values pertaining to environmental, social, and vegan issues. In addition, all VegVoyages adventures make a point to use produce farmed locally, stay in locally owned and operated accommodations, eat at locally owned restaurants, work with local guides, local cooks, local drivers, as well as support locally run vegetarian and vegan businesses in the areas their adventures take place. VegVoyages also actively supports grassroots social, environmental and animal welfare organizations that make a difference in their communities, whether it’s a hospital for local street animals, rural village schools, children homes, environmental conservation projects, or local refuge and rehabilitation centers for exploited animals. Also, VegVoyages is against the exploitation of animals in any form and they do not use them on their tours whether for expeditions, rides, safaris or shows. Starting with three tours in India in their first year, VegVoyages now runs over twenty-three trips in five different countries annually.

As winner, VegVoyages received

  • A special award, presented at Green Festival on Sunday at 3pm
  • National media recognition as a leading brand in the green community
