The Portland Green Festival Expo Launch Party took place at Hatch Lab Thursday December 1, 2016. Special thank you goes to host Lex Lavatai, Community Cultivator at Hatch Lab. Our guests included local business owners, media representatives, and active community members who all share the important commitment to a sustainable environment and a healthy lifestyle. Swift Cider, a local cider company, sponsored the event providing tasty beverages throughout the evening. Carioca Bowls brought their delicious acai bowls to the launch party with samples for everyone to enjoy.
Portland Green Festival Presenters in attendance at the Launch Party included: Brion Hurley, Principal Lean Consultant at Rockwell Collins in Wilsonville, OR; Colleen Polling, Registered Dietitian; Erik Wolf, Executive Director of World Food Travel Association; Rich Matusow, CE-Om, Carioca Bowls / Full Lotus PDX and Risa Blumen Meynarez, CEO, Consumers Everywhere.
Guests were greeted and welcomed by Amy Theberge, our Green Festival Portland Regional Director, and Dr. Corinna Basler, President of Green Festivals. Exhibitors and Sponsors tabling at the event included SOLVE, Good Rolls, NYR Organic, Zija & Ameo Essential Oils, Progressive Asset Management, Green Living Journal and the Dakota Access Pipeline Petition and Letter Campaign showcasing their green and sustainable efforts and products. Media at the launch party included: Portland Tribune, Green Living Journal, Portland Natural Awakenings and various other local bloggers.
Corinna Basler spoke of the upcoming event in Portland, and thanked the local community for their support. The event will highlight major films that are making a breakthrough in the sustainable world such as Love Thy Nature, Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, Speciesism: The Movie, Called to Rescue Redefining our Barnyard Story, and SEED: The Untold Story. The 2nd annual Portland Green Festival will be featuring at least 3 tiny homes/peace pods. Southern Oregon Tiny Homes, Peace Pods International and Homegrown Trailers will be in attendance all weekend showing off their fun living spaces.
The Portland Green Festival will have over 30 presenters over the 3-day weekend, 150+ exhibitors and a brand new Sustainable Innovations Pavilion hosting talks on veganism and animal rights, conservation stewardship and the environmental future of our planet. There will be a food court with a variety of vegan and vegetarian options and samples from Square Mile Cider.
The Portland Launch Party received wonderful green items from SOLVE, Good Rolls, NYR Organic, Zija & Ameo Essential Oils, Progressive Asset Management, Green Living Journal and Dakota Access Pipeline Petition and Letter Campaign, Ortho healing, Spirituality and Health Magazine, BankPurely and Ten Thousand Villages. All were included in the overflowing gift bags that provided a taste of what is to come at the Green Festival Expo on December 9, 10 and 11th at the Oregon Convention Center.
