The Los Angeles Green Festival Expo Launch Party took place in downtown Santa Monica at Expert DOJO on Thursday, August 25th, 2016. Special thanks goes to hosts Brian MacMahon, Chief Community Officer of Expert DOJO and Ryan Foland. Guests included local business owners, media representatives, environmental advocates and community members who all share the important commitment of making Los Angeles more sustainable.

The Los Angeles Green Festival will have the largest presence of celebrity and notable speakers in its 15 year history. While the green movement continues to gain traction in the city, more and more people join the expo to take part in this important cause. Speakers in attendance included: Victoria Charles, LEED GA- Professor/Sustainability Practitioner; Sylvie Rokab, Director of Love thy Nature; Joel Cesare, Sustainable Building Advisor of City of Santa Monica; Rachel Winokur, Eco-Elegant interior designer; Judi Julin, CosmiKids; Deb Coyle, Inspired Parenting; Chef Dorit, Serenity foods; Rev. Leon Campbell, Agape International Spiritual Center; Annie Goeke, Earth Rights Institute. See the full LA speaker list here

Guests were greeted by Pascale Coupal-Sikes, LA Regional Director, and Dr. Corinna Basler, President of Green Festivals. Guests sampled delicious vegan quesadillas, Barnana organic banana bites, protein smoothies from BN Labs and delicious mocktails from La Croix. A variety of organic Bonterra wine was served on the outdoor patio where Solar DJs played music throughout the evening.

Corinna Basler spoke of the upcoming events to take place at the LA Expo September 16, 17 and 18th at the LA Convention Center. Presenters such as Moby, Ed Begley Jr. and Katie Cleary will be joining the line-up with a brand new Animal Rights Panel, information on how to help in the local community and more. For the first time ever the LA Expo will feature two indoor yoga pavilions with Create Yoga, The Xanadu Life, and Radhanath Swami with the Green Yoga Pavilion and many more teachers throughout the weekend. Green Festival Expo will also be partnering with COWSPIRACY: The Sustainability Secret, which will be aired for suggested donations. Proceeds will go toward aiding the conservation efforts of American Wild Horse Preservation and Rowdy Girl Sanctuary. Director Kip Andersen will be present on Friday, September 16th to answer questions and give information on the movie topics. Corinna Basler spoke with dedication about the growing momentum for a vegan future and touched on her background as a vegan for over a decade. Media at the launch party included LA Yoga Magazine, Santa Monica Daily Press, KPFK Radio, and a variety of different local media bloggers.

To cap off the evening hosts Brian and Ryan offered prizes for fun activities such as holding a yoga pose the longest, best conga line dancer and a thumb war winner! Prizes included 1 month of free yoga at Create Yoga, a Water Gallery gift basket and Palm Pring Pillows. Guests tested out the lightweight electric UScooters to end the evening. Overall the launch party was the perfect sample for what is to come at the expo.

Green Festival’s valued exhibitors sponsoring the Launch Party included: Hidow, La Croix, Inspired Parenting, BankPurely, Barnana, Water Gallery, VeggiDome, Palm Pring, BN Labs and Create Yoga.

The Los Angeles Launch Party received wonderful green items from BN Labs, La Croix, Young Living Essential Oils, Dr. Brite, Elemental Superfoods, BankPurely, Inspired Parenting Magazine, The Xanadu and Create Yoga and Spirituality and Health Magazine which were included in the gift bags that provided a taste of what was to come at the Green Festival Expo on September 16, 17 and 18th at the LA Convention Center. Metro Riders will receive free admission all 3 days of the expo in support of public transportation across the LA area. In addition, cyclists will receive free admission when they bike and show their helmet at the box office! Admission for students will be free on Friday with student ID and $5 off the door ticket price Saturday and Sunday.
