Amie Hamlin is Executive Director and founding member of the Coalition for Healthy School Food. Amie wrote a legislative resolution for New York State in 2004, and has since worked to change how schools feed kids. The Coalition is a past winner of the Green Festival Community Award. In 2009, Amie was awarded the grand prize for "Mom of the Revolution" from Revolution Foods and Kiwi Magazine. In 2012, Amie was featured in Vegetarian Times Magazine as one of the new food heroes who are out to change the way America eats - for the better, and was called a "school food savior". The Coalition was recognized by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health as having one of three promising practices. Amie’s passion is to have school food reflect what we know to be true about diet and disease and the animal agriculture/environment connection.
