Our organization started with three people and an idea. We are nowsupported by our three main local governments and work to bringsustainability issues to the forefront of our communities. We focus oncollaborating and creating real solutions. One of our challenges is ourremoteness. Another is our diversity from highend ski resort on oneend of the county to rural agricultural and mining based communities onthe other. Our efforts to build resilient communities throughcollaboration could be a good model for other communities and citizensgroups. Our story would be appropriate for any general audience. Building on our succss, we also helped start and oversee a youth group at our local high school the Y.E.S. Club.

Yoga to the People is a unique donation-based yoga studio with the goal of recapturing what we consider to be the essence of yoga… simply put, yoga made available to everyone. In a time where yoga as a business is getting a lot of attention, the fact that it is being priced out of many people’s reach is in direct conflict with what we consider to be the spirit of yoga itself.
We’ve heard from people all over the country that they simply can’t afford to do yoga on a regular basis. We want to make it possible for everyone to do yoga regardless of economic limitations.
The beauty of this yoga is that it is challenging enough for all, yet not too extreme and therefore accessible to everyone.

Since 1996, Youth Speaks has made it their mission to shift the perception of youth by combating illiteracy, alienation and silence and by creating a global movement of young people brave enough to take their voices to the stage. As the leading nonprofit presenter of spoken word in the country, Youth Speaks offers youth the opportunity to speak their truths each year at Brave New Voices, Youth Speaks' international teen poetry slam competition. There, hundreds of young people gather to share with one another their personal stories of triumph, sadness, joy, pain, and also their distinct and individual visions of the future.
In 2006, Youth Speaks invited these participants to speak specifically to the issue of environmentalism. Ever since, droves of youth have been rising to the occasion, jumping at the opportunity to join the growing conversation on global warming, sustainability and ecoresponsibility. Brave New Voices Speak Green was born. James Kass, Founder and Executive Director of Youth Speaks, said it best when he quipped, often times, at huge conferences, all these adults are talking about what the future wants and needs, but the future is never in the room. Young people are never in the conversation. Since it's inception, Brave New Voices Speak Green has grown enormously. In 2006 there were 15 applicants; in 2008, that number exploded into over 100, and the potential is incalculable.
